The Fashion Upgrade; The second hand way
Fast fashion as we all know far two well destroys the planet. However there are ways around this the first being only buying from sustainable brands like Everlane and People Tree however for many people this is out of the price range because often to get sustainable fashion the production costs are doubled.
This brings us to my favourite way of shopping without killing the planet, second hand shops and renting. Charity shops and vintage are a trend which dominate the fashion industry to this day, and I am a very willing participant in this trend. Charity shops are treasure troves for one of a kind pieces and basics, this depends on where you're searching but in the back streets of London I have found some of my favourite pieces of clothing. Or you can dive into the world of vintage shops and be consumed in 70's fashion, which is an equally sustainable way to shop and there is no place more glamorous than Notting Hill's Lovers Lane Vintage. Charity shops are my go to way to not only get more for your money and know you're not killing the environment. If you are like me and don't like it when everyone is wearing the same clothes from Zara and H&M I recommend you go to your local charity shop and I am sure you will find something worth your money especially if you live in a wealthy area London or Oxfords charity shops are renowned. For example I have found UGGs for £10 and a Diane Von Furstenberg dress for £80 (a barging compared to the original).
While the fashion industry is slow to adapt and rarely acknowledges its own issues, but it is slowly coming around brands are becoming sustainable and making digital platforms. Even designer brands have started some rental programs so more people can experience what it is like to wear designer brands.
I have decided to dub the sustainable fashion revolution, the fashion upgrade because while there is nothing wrong with the way people shop now I think charity and vintage shops are an upgrade not a revolution. This is an upgrade of sustainable fashion it is cheaper, more sustainable and can be unique when you dig through the bins and find a vintage 70's handbag from the 60's.

Rentals
If you are lucky enough to live a life of luxury, and have events to attend or if you simply need fancy dresses. Rental dresses are the way forward, all the beauty of a designer gown without the cost.

Charity Shops
Oxfam is a prime example of the charity shops full of basics and hidden gems. It has £5 basic jumpers what more could a girl need. Therefore when you think you need to buy cheap clothes from fast fashion sites take a look in a charity shop instead.
